Why not make a "Riviera-type" arrival with an arrival in base leg 22 finished by a last turn towards the final approach?

This solution would reduce too much the airspace necessary for radar regulation. In fact, the airspace radar regulations in configuration 22 is inserted between the northern terrain, the axis of westerly departures and the axis for the Saleya final approach. A Saleya procedure with an arrival in Riviera-type base leg would have reduced an already restricted radar regulation airspace.
Otherwise a missed approach procedure, faced with high ground obstacle and the city of Nice, with an 180° turn, causing big interference with departures, was not possible.
The trajectories registered April 27, 2004, clearly illustrates this problem.
