Why visual approach restrictions? The conditions for using a visual approach can be found in the AIP France Atlas IAC map AD2 LFMN ENV 01. They essentially consist of not flying overland below 5000 feet ASFC. However on runway 22 during daylight, visual approaches are prohibited when the weather conditions and runway lighting necessary to implement the Saleya procedure are not met. In fact the control services can not anticipate the visual approach trajectories which would become hazardous taking into account these weather conditions. Additionally, on runway 22 at night, they are prohibited. The decision for these restrictions is motivated by the fact that there are significant high ground obstacles present when entering base leg 22. |
